Cutest baby sweater yet

This, my friends, is the Little Coffee Bean sweater by the unbelievably talented Elizabeth Smith.  Seriously.  Go click the link if you haven't already.  I'll wait.

So, I originally saw this little gem knit up in the prettiest stripe color combination on Ravelry and after having a bad experience with the other sweater I was knitting, I decided to toss it into time-out and give this one a try.  I pulled out a lonely skein of Cascade 220 handpainted yarn and a skein of Cascade 220 superwash in heathered gray, and went for it.
I have to say that this was a very satisfying, and quick knit.  I enjoyed every minute of it and it literally flew off the needles!  I chose to go with Elizabeth's suggestion of using yarn-overs as increases instead of 'make-one's because the color combination is more gender neutral and I wanted to provide a touch of girly-ness.  I also opted for the short sleeves because I realized that this little girl will be born into the warmer months (although, it can still be quite chilly in New England, in the spring).  This way, she'll get more wear out of it.

This was the prettiest color combination I've used in some time.  I love it so much that I'm seriously thinking of making a sweater for myself in this combination.  Don't be surprised if you see one soon :)  And as a bonus, I finally got to use these cute flower buttons from JHB!  I've wanted to use them since Naomi first ordered them, and they went perfectly with this sweater.

I also had a chance to use my custom labels for the first time.  I've got quite a few of these babies laying around and I've been looking for just the right opportunity.  Too bad I'll have to order new ones soon.  I should have just waited, but I never expected to develop a brand.  I guess that just means that I need to knit a bunch of stuff and put labels in them all :)
I'm happy to say that this little darling was well received by it's family and will be available to warm their little one as soon as she can possibly wear it :)  The family is very special to me and I really wanted to do something special for them, as a way to show how much I love them and appreciate all they've done for me and my boys.  I can't think of more deserving people...I mean it's not every day that a friend agrees to tell you the sex of their baby to make it more convenient for you to knit ;)

  1. Check out my own coffee bean cardigans (though I did 4-row stripes instead of 2-row). In 12-month size for Mark and Kristine's twin boys!
