Yesterday I woke up to this scene in my front yard. Last year at this time we has Canadian Geese hanging out in our front yard. They seem to have been replaced by these turkeys. You may recall that they came by once before, but it was a lot earlier in the day and they got a whole lot closer, so I got better shots. Here, you can see that one of the turkeys is chasing our neighbor's cat. He's coming up on the porch to hide behind the Human's legs. The turkeys don't seem to think anything of us. They practically got within touching distance.
These guys were the size of small dogs, and they clearly were comfortable being around people. And maybe it's just me, but if I were a staple of a holiday feast, I wouldn't be strutting around in people's front yard so close to that holiday, lol.
Anyway, today is Columbus Day and the kids are home from school. That means one more day of bickering, and the teenager trying to manipulate/bully the 6-year old into doing what he says, and having to explain that we follow basic decency in this house and will treat each other with respect. Oh, and I also get to spend another full day explaining to said 6-year old about appropriate inside-behavior, playing fair, and basic manners. Good times.
