Finals again?!? Time to knit something then.

What is it about finals week that compels me to blog and knit stuff, lol.  Shouldn't all that extra creative energy be directing itself toward my papers?  Or maybe it's that my brain is in high academic gear which in turn increases my creativity.  Someone should do a study on that some day.

Anyway, I'm still on the baby knitting jag and I don't see it slowing down any time soon.  If things continue on like this, I could put a serious dint in my DK and sport-weight yarn stash, as well as work through a good number of the baby patterns I've collected just in the last year or so.  I just love knitting for little people, and I love when that special skein of yarn that I've hoarded in my stash for years finally becomes something worthy of itself.

My latest sweater fits this description.  I knit the Puerperium Cardigan by Kelly Brooker, and I had a blast the entire time.  This is a free pattern found on Ravelry, although Kelly offers a larger version for older babies as a for-purchase download.  I used a skein of Play at Life Fiber Arts Boundless Sport in a color called By The Spoonful.  I've been holding this yarn for a special occasion and had originally intended to knit socks for one of my boys with it.  Well they suck.  Not one of those ungrateful Y-chromosome carriers liked the color so I never got to use this most-beloved skein of yarn until now.  It was the perfect color for a little sweater for a baby boy and I love how it turned out.  It's definitely larger than the 0-6 week size intended in the pattern but I'm good with that.  He'll get to wear it that much longer :)

Anyway, I just finished knitting it yesterday so it needs buttons and blocking, but here's a quick shot of my favorite little baby sweater.  Please forgive the crappy instagram filter.

the color is a bit distorted.  it's actually gray, chocolate brown, and orange.  beautiful in person :)
